Library Leadership

Welcome

The Campus Library is part of the University of Washington Libraries, and serves the students, faculty and staff of the University of Washington Bothell and Cascadia College. The Library is a learning space where students can read, explore, research, create and collaborate.

Organizational Structure

The University of Washington Libraries, which operates as one library serving three campuses, has long been recognized for the exceptional quality of its staff, services and collections. Library staff are leaders in user-centered services, assessment, collaboration, online learning, and innovative pedagogies.

Executive Team

The Executive Team is the senior Library leadership that advises the Associate Dean in advancing the mission, vision, and values of the Library. Each member has operational oversight of their relevant service area(s), exercises significant authority in allocation of library resources, and takes an active role in recommending and formulating Campus Library policy. Each member builds strong collaborative leadership and staff relations across the UWB & CC campuses—as well as the University of Washington Libraries—in support of their units and library initiatives. In collaboration with Library staff and the Representative Council, the Executive Team sets and affirms the Library’s strategic directions and ensures that resources and structures are aligned with strategic priorities.

The Executive Team includes:

  • Richard Lewis, Associate Dean of Libraries UW Bothell and Cascadia College Library
  • Heather Cyre, Director of Public Services
  • Leslie Hurst, Director of Teaching & Learning Services
  • Silvia Eddings, Budget and Operations Manager
  • Suzan Parker, Director of Collections Strategy

Representative Council

The Representative Council (RC) functions as a collaborative team that advises the Associate Dean (AD). The council reflects a two-way communication model, where the AD brings items to the council for discussion and where the council brings forward items to the AD for discussion. RC members serve as advocates for their areas, representing Unit and user needs, priorities and perspectives in planning discussions, organizational development, and current issues in day-to-day operations. As individuals and as a group, the RC maintains both a present and a future-oriented perspective, regularly scanning the environment for developments affecting our campus, academic libraries, and higher education. New initiatives are reviewed to identify impacts across Library Units, the UW Libraries, UWB, and CC. Units with more than one possible representative listed will decide each fiscal year who will serve on the RC.

Members of the Representative Council includes:

  • Richard Lewis, Associate Dean of Libraries UW Bothell and Cascadia College Library
  • Danielle Rowland, Head of Undergraduate Instruction
  • Denise Hattwig, Head of Digital Scholarship
  • Tamara Garrard, Head of Access Services
  • [Vacant], DEIA & Student Engagement Librarian
  • A representative from Access Services, Library Technology Services, Library Administration, Materials Processing, and Reserves
