Borrowing Services: Borrowing and Returning Materials

Guide to Borrowing from the UWB/CC Campus Library

Quick Links

Returning Library Materials

UW Bothell/CC Campus Library book drops are located:

  • Just inside the library entrance, or a person at the Circulation Desk (fastest check-in)
  • Outside the library to the right of the library entrance
  • On NE Campus Parkway (left of the Library Annex building near the library loading dock)

Book drops are also located on the Seattle and Tacoma campuses.

Important note:  Reserve materials and equipment (i.e. laptops) must be returned to the library where they were checked out.

Borrowing Library Materials

Bring the item(s) you wish to borrow and your library card (Student or Staff ID; UW Libraries Borrowing Card) to the 1st Floor desk. You are responsible for:

  • All material checked out on your card
  • Knowing due dates. Dates may change based on renewal and recall requests
  • Returning or renewing materials on time

Regularly check Your Library Account for accurate due dates, and to renew items online.

Loans / Length of Checkout

Most books in the UW Bothell/CC Campus Library check out for the following periods of time:

  • Undergraduates and Alumni: 4 weeks, unlimited renewals (unless item is recalled)
  • Faculty / Grads / Staff: 12 weeks, unlimited renewals (unless item is recalled)

Some collections within the library (i.e. Reference) are in-library use only, while other collections (i.e. Career, Writing, Topics, etc.) check out for 7 days. Items that are on Reserve for a class check out for shorter periods of time.

Most media items (DVD, VHS, CDs, video games) can be checked out for 7 days.

A few media items are intended only for instructional use. Students can use these items while in the library and faculty can check them out, schedule for a particular class time and viewing, or place them on Reserve for class use.

Renewals

Most items checked out from the library may be renewed online by logging in to Your Library Account with your UW NetID. Cascadia Students will need to set up a UW NetID if they haven't done so already.

To renew over the phone, call 425-352-5340

The following items cannot be renewed:

  • Items which have had holds placed on them
  • Reserve items. For more information about reserves, see Reserves Use and Policy
  • Summit items
  • Items billed for replacement
  • Library Use Only items (checked out by exception only)
