Communication Studies: TV Reviews

This subject guide is a starting point for communication-related research, including mass media, speech communication, and more.

Finding TV Reviews

Reviews of television programs are written by professional TV critics and fans alike.  TV reviews are published in newspapers, popular magazines (People Magazine), trade publications (Broadcasting & Cable, Entertainment Weekly, Variety), and on websites (official show websites, fan sites).

Search the library databases below to find TV reviews.  It's usually best to search for the television show's name and review*

Examples:

  • "Will and Grace" AND review*
  • "Everybody Loves Raymond" AND review*

TV programs with single word names can be difficult to search for, so you should add additional search terms such as the network, an actor's name, or another distinguishing keyword.

Examples:

  • scandal AND rhimes AND review*
  • (black-ish OR blackish) AND review*

TV shows airing after 1990
