Music 553: Advanced Choral Techniques - Winter 2017: Reading Reviews

For class today you should have read:

• Sparfeld You Shall Have a Song: The Music of Stephen Paulus
• Hughes J.S. Bach: Mass in B minor

In pairs or small groups discuss the following:

• How were the reviews structured?
• Was there anything missing from your review?  Is there anything else you would like to know more about (e.g. the work, the composer, performers, etc.)?
• What information would you need to gather in order to write an effective review?
  • Where would you go to gather that information?

Read more reviews to get a better feel of style.
