The University of Washington Health Sciences Library serves as the regional Network Office for network member organizations throughout the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Northwest Region (NNLM PNR) including the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.
NNLM PNR staff support Network member organizations’ health information services, resource sharing, community partnerships, outreach program development and evaluation. We offer or sponsor distance and on-site training about online health resources, and provide funding to libraries and community-based partners to promote the use of quality health information. Network members and NNLM PNR staff exhibits and present about health information topics and resources for diverse professionals and community groups.
Purpose of Position
Develop and implement outreach to increase health and science literacy skills and access to quality consumer health information, using National Library of Medicine (NLM) products and services, for minorities, seniors, teens, K-12 staff, low income populations or other populations that are underserved.
General Responsibilities:
Exhibits at regional and local conferences and meetings reaching NNLM PNR target populations
Submits regional and local conference session proposals aimed at public libraries, K-12 institutions, and community organizations to educate and bring awareness about NLM and NIH resources
