HEALWA is a portal to online resources serving selected healthcare providers in Washington State. HEALWA was created by legislation in 2007 and is funded by a portion of the license fees of the participating professions. Patricia Devine is the Community Outreach Coordinator for HEALWA.  https://heal-wa.org/

Responsibilities

Purpose of Position
The Community Outreach Coordinator provides leadership, vision and daily management of the HEALWA program. 

Current responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day HEALWA program and portal, in consultation with the Director (PI), regarding planning, budgeting, personnel, implementing, and reporting activities; create promotional materials and reports to stakeholders.
  • Collaboratively foster strong lines of communication with state legislative delegations, executive branch agencies professional organizations and other stakeholders by assembling advisory bodies and coordinating meetings.
  • Develop outreach programs to promote use of the portal by eligible healthcare professionals throughout the state.
  • Identify potential resources, including databases, books or journals that support the clinical and patient care information needs of the Washington healthcare providers for inclusion in the portal.
  • Keep current on state legislation and initiatives to identify possibilities for collaboration and partnership on healthcare initiatives, respond to inquiries, fiscal notes, and bills, and to be proactive in ensuring that the HEALWA program remain current and relevant.
  • Monitor legislative activities pertaining to HEALWA, and provide responses to legislative inquiries.
  • Work with Systems to update and maintain HEALWA website.
  • Analyze and compares technologies and methods for serving the information needs of users and ongoing evaluation of electronic services and resources.
  • Promote HEALWA through publicity opportunities, attendance at meetings, professional publications, and other opportunities as available.
  • Collaborate with librarians to promote HEALWA to graduating professionals and in continuing education venues.
  • Work with Libraries Advancement to fundraise and raise awareness of HEALWA and promote access to Friends and members of the community.
