The Directory of Unpublished Experimental Mental Measures, published by the American Psychological Association, provides access to noncommercial experimental test instruments in the fields of education, psychology, sociology, and human resources. Each volume compiles tests used in specified journals since the preceding volume. Listings appear in chapters based on variable and provide basic information on tests that will allow the user to determine, on a superficial basis, the suitability of the test to his or her situation. Information provided includes: test name, purpose, description, statistics information, author, article it appeared in, and citations of related research.
ERIC, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education, provides access to more than 1.3 million bibliographic records of journal articles, books, research syntheses, conference papers, technical reports, policy papers, and other education-related materials from 1966 to present. If available, links to full text are included. It consists of two files: the Resources in Education (RIE) file of non-journal document citations and the Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE) file of journal article citations from over 600 professional journals. ERIC users include education researchers, teachers, librarians, administrators, education policymakers, instructors and students in teacher-preparation programs, school psychologists, and counselors.
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) Test Collection database (TestLink) contains descriptions of over 25,000 tests and other measurement devices from the early 1900’s to present. The test descriptions are indexed with ERIC Thesaurus terms for subject accessibility. The tests contained in this collection were acquired from U.S. publishers and individual test authors, although some foreign tests are also included.

Many measures created or modified for specific research studies appear in journals, but never become commercially available. Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI), produced by Behavioral Measurement Database Services, provides information on 15,000 health and psychosocial instruments,industrial and organizational behavior, and education. Information in the database is abstracted from hundreds of leading journals covering health sciences and psychosocial sciences. The database includes records on instruments dating back to the early 1900's and is updated quarterly. Types of items indexed in this database include questionnaires, interview schedules, vignettes/scenarios, coding schemes, rating and other scales, checklists, indexes, tests, projective techniques, and more. Full-text of the instruments are not included in the database.

Mental Measurement Yearbooks (MMY) Description MMY, produced by the Buros Institute, contains full-text standardized, information about and critical reviews of commercially available tests published in English and includes descriptive information, validity, reliability, norming data, scoring and reporting information, etc. The kinds of tests covered include achievement, behavior assessment, education, intelligence, personality, vocational aptitude, psychology, neuropsychology, and related areas. MMY is published each year and includes tests that are new or revised. These yearbooks represent a comprehensive collection of test review information.

Nursing Reference Center (NRC) is a comprehensive reference tool providing clinical resources to nurses and other health care professionals directly at the point-of-care. The database provides access to Evidence-Based Care Sheets, Quick Lessons, drug information, reference books, skills and procedures. best practice guidelines, CE modules, legal cases, and research instruments. Research instrument documents include descriptions of research instruments, clinical assessment tools, psychological tests, attitude measures and more. The analysis includes purpose and variables measured; question format; original population; administration; scoring; psychometrics; how to obtain; and source of the instrument.
ProQolid is a database developed by the Mapi Research Institute that includes over 700 health-related quality of life instruments. ProQolid aims to provide an overview of existing patient reported outcome and quality of life instruments and facilitate access to them. For each instrument in the database, you will find 14 categories of basic information (e.g., author, objective, mode of administration, original language, existing translations, pathology, number of items, etc.). The University of Washington Libraries provides Level 1 access, but not access to the review copy of the instrument, its translations, and the user manual.

PsycINFO contains more than 3 million records from 1600 to the present. Journal coverage, from the 1800’s to the present, includes material selected from over 2,500 periodicals, with 99% from peer-reviewed journals. Chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English-language material published from 1987 to the present; however, there are a substantial number of records covering books published earlier. Updated weekly.
Produced by the American Psychological Association, PsycTESTS is a database dedicated to providing information about psychological tests. Each record contains detailed information about a specific test and many include the full text of the instrument. Test records may provide references to articles discussing the development of the test, test reviews, and new uses of a test (such as with a new population).
PubMed, produced by the National Library of Medicine, provides free internet access to the literature of the biomedicine. Its major component is MEDLINE, the premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the preclinical sciences. MEDLINE contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 5,200 biomedical journals published in the United States and 80 other countries. The database contains over 18 million citations dating back to the late 1940's. Coverage is worldwide, but most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts.
RAND Health is a research division within the RAND Corporation. In the past 40 years, RAND Health has produced many practical surveys and tools for improving quality of care. They are organized by topic. All of the surveys and tools from RAND Health are public documents, available without charge (for non-commercial purposes). Some materials listed are not available from RAND Health. Links will take you to other websites, where you will find instructions for use. Many of the surveys listed are available in other languages.
Sociological Abstracts provides access to the world's literature in sociology and related disciplines, both theoretical and applied. The database includes abstracts of journal articles selected from over 2500 journals, abstracts of conference papers presented at various sociological association meetings, relevant dissertation listings from Dissertations Abstracts International, enhanced bibliographic citations of book reviews, and abstracts of selected sociology books.
The Test Critiques eleven-volume set (1984-1994) includes lengthy reviews of more than 800 of the most frequently used, commercially available psychological, educational, and business tests, arranged alphabetically by test title. Entries for each test include critical commentary on the historical context, common settings, practical applications, guidelines for administration, scoring and interpretation, and reliability and validity data. Title, author/reviewer, publisher, and subject indexes cumulate. Sometimes the reference list contains a citation to the original article which may contain a copy of the test. There is significant duplication with MMY.

TIP is a companion index to MMY. Therefore, test entries will often refer you to additional information or reviews appearing in specified editions of MMY's. Names of test reviewers and references on the construction, use, and validity of the test may also be included.

The University of Washington's Test Collection consists of miscellaneous standardized tests (approximately 2500). The collection of miscellaneous tests are located near the Suzzallo Reference desk. In order to meet the purchase requirements of most test publishers, these tests are located in the Suzzallo Reference Section in locked files with strict Access Requirements. The reference librarian on duty will assist you in accessing the Test Collection. Tests may not be checked out or removed from the Reference area, nor may they be reproduced by any means without written permission from the publisher.

Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) is a dynamic online data collection tool developed by researchers for use in the translational health sciences. The REDCap Shared Library is a repository for REDCap data collection instruments and forms that can be downloaded and used by researchers at REDCap partner institutions. Curated instruments have been approved for inclusion by the REDCap Library Oversight Committee (REDLOC) after review for research relevance, accuracy in function and coding, and copyright issues.
