Importing Citations from Databases and Catalogs

First you will want to install the Mendeley Web importer. Either drag the "Import to Mendely" button to your Bookmarks toolbar, or right-click on the "Import to Mendeley" button and add to your browser's bookmarks. Your browser needs to allow for pop-ups in order for the Mendeley Web importer to work.

Mendeley provides the ability to save references from many library catalogs and databases, including WorldCat, PubMed, Lancet Journals and BioMed Central.  Mendeley maintains a list of compatible sites, although sites that do not appear on this list may also work.

If you are on a page with a single search result, click on the "Import to Mendeley" bookmark after you have added it to your browser's bookmarks toolbar or menu.

A pop-up box will appear to confirm that the document was saved to your Mendeley library. You will also have the opportunity to take a snapshot of the item and add tags and/or notes directly to the item.

If you are on a page of search results with many items, when you click on the "Import to Mendeley" Bookmark, a pop-up box will appear with all of the items listed on the page. Click "Import" next to each individual document in order to save it to your Mendeley library.
