Reagents & Lab Supplies
Linscott's Directory of Immunological & Biological Reagents
o Find antibody & hybridoma suppliers.
o ELISA kits, cytokines, enzymes, recombinant proteins, siRNAs, tissues, organs, & more.
o Commercial sources of scientific supplies
o Chromatography columns to cell lines; reporter vectors to oligos; pipets to pharmaceutical compounds
o Locate sources of compounds for use in screening or as chemical building blocks.
Protocols Online - Databases and Journals
Use these resources to find both standard, time-tested methods and brand-new techniques using the latest instrumentation.
Try Springer Protocols for step-by-step "recipe" style protocols.
Try Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE) for peer-reviewed instructional videos.
o Includes the full text of Methods in Molecular Biology, Methods in Molecular Medicine, Methods in Biotechnology, Methods in Pharmacology & Toxicology, Neuromethods, The Proteomics Handbook, and more.
o Save useful protocols in a "favorites" area.
o Set up an alert for new protocols.
o When you find one good protocol, click on the "Similar Protocols" icon to find others.
o Try out the mobile-friendly site.
Journal of Visualized Experiments (JoVE)
o Peer-reviewed scientific video journal of methods and protocols.
o The Library subscribes to: JoVE Biology; JoVE General; JoVE Immunology & Infection; JoVE Neuroscience; and JoVE Medicine.
o The library also subscribes to: JoVE Science Education: General Laboratory Techniques; Basic Methods in Cellular and Molecular Biology; and Essentials of Biology 1 and 2.
Methods in Enzymology
o Fields of Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology, and Genetics.
o Online volumes from 2000-present.
Journal of experimental and laboratory protocols for bench researchers primarily in biology and chemistry
Protocols @ Nature
YouTube site for videos relating to Protocols published in Nature Protocols or shared in the Protocol Exchange, an Open Access resource for detailed methodologies in experimental science.
Journal of methods for life scientists and chemists.
o Life science protocols published in a peer-reviewed, open-access journal.
o Published protocols have been written by invitation.
o Database can be searched by keywords (e.g., "quorum sensing"), organism (e.g., zebrafish), or discipline (e.g., neuroscience).
Biological Procedures Online
Open access, peer-reviewed journal. Publishes articles on techniques and methods in the medical and biological sciences. Emphasis is on multidisciplinary approaches.
Free database of protocols contributed by individual researchers, as well as links to protocols hosted by research labs, biotech companies, & personal web sites. Topics range from histology to yeast genetics to lab animal techniques to cell biology.
Protocol Online also hosts several discipline-specific discussion forums for questions and trouble-shooting.
