Tips for Searching:

Once you've run a search, use the "Refine My Results" options on the left side of the page.  It's a quick way to drill down to the most useful results without paging through a lot of items you're not really interested inOptions often include:

  • Resource type (examples: book, article)
  • Library (example: UW Tacoma)
  • Creation date
  • Language
  • Topic
  • Classification LCC (Library of Congress call numbers)

 

Need More Help Finding Books?

  • Browse the shelves: Literature books are found in the Ps (on the 2nd floor of the Tacoma Library)
  • Ask your prof to recommend writers or book titles (then look the books/authors up in the Library Catalog)
  • Find one good book then look it up on Amazon and see what other titles are bought by people buying that book.
  • Peruse the Bibliography or Reference List of any article or book you already have to find books new to you.
  • And you can always ask for help at the Reference Desk - (253) 692-4442

 

Ebook Info

  • UW subscribes to thousands of ebooks.  They can be found in both catalogs to the left.
  • Right now UW ebooks are not downloadable to a portable device like the Kindle. (They must be read on a computer)
