More people are hungry today than ever before in human history. Spiraling food prices and a global economic crisis have made questions of food production, distribution, and consumption central to issues of human security. This Task Force will address food security as a major policy challenge for the U.S. and the world and propose steps that policymakers can take to alleviate hunger and anticipate food uncertainties around the world. It will emphasize a human security approach to the problem by considering the interests and rights of people and communities paramount.
