The War Against Al Qaeda's Extremist Ideology: Reassessing U.S. Policy More than Nine Years after 9/11

This Task Force will examine questions of U.S's new policies since 9/11 and then put together a series of policy proposals for how best the United States should move forward in confronting the threat posed by Al Qaeda and their ideology.

Background and Country Information

EIU, the most comprehensive website for Country Profiles is shown first, followed by a locally developed page.  Background is a much broader term.  A variety of factors may contribute to the disaffection of members "al-Qaeda" or other radical Islamic organizations and their activities.  The links following EIU provide information on some of those factors.  BADIL through United Nations. Question of Palestine relate to the Palestinian problem and resulting refugees.  Electronic Iraq through EPIC relate to the Iraq War and associated problems.  The final links are to organizations focusing on broad political issues.

    April 1951 through 2010 is available on microfilm A8154 in the Microforms & Newspapers collection.
  • Tehran Times
    Directed to Iranian readers. It has an Islamic viewpoint. It reports thoroughy on political relations within the Middle East and is moderate.
