The Research Center's Hewitt Research Library and Special Collections are open to the general public, via the special collections reading room on the 3rd floor of the building, by appointment only, Tuesday-Thursday from 12:30PM to 4:30PM.

Includes government reports, legal transcripts, water project records, personal papers, photographic collections and more associated with the major river basins of the western United States. Collaborative regional project with content contributed by 30 major universities.

The University of Washington Libraries participated in the United States Agriculture Information Network (USAIN) Preserving the History of U.S. Agriculture and Rural Life Grant Project from 2004 to 2008 with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). As part of this project, the University of Washington Libraries compiled bibliographies of journals and books published between 1820 and 1945 on Washington State agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
