Eliminating Labor Trafficking from the Global Supply Chain for U.S. Products & Services

Sutapa Basu & Bratati Ghosh  MW 2:30-4:20 SAV 162

Despite almost 15 years of federal and State policies to combat human trafficking, the high numbers of trafficked persons persist. Increasingly policy makers and scholars see global trade and trade networks as critically facilitating the growth in human (especially labor) trafficking. Students will work on a research brief and legislative recommendations for eliminating the risk of human trafficking for global supply chains for Washington State. Intelligent legislative recommendations at the State aimed at eliminating human (especially labor) trafficking in any form from the global supply chain for U.S. goods and services has the potential to influence US Federal Government policy, and eventually influence international standards, and trade & labor policy. A panel from the Washington State Legislature will review the findings.
