Resources for Students During Ramadan

Welcome! Ramadan Mubarak!

Both the University of Washington Bothell and Cascadia College affirm their commitments to accommodating religious observance as part of the practices of diversity and inclusion. . Ramadan is the Arabic name for the ninth month in the Islamic calendar.  It is considered a special month for Muslims in which they practice a period of fasting which is considered one of the Five Pillars of Islam.  The other pillars include faith, prayer, charity and making the pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca.

In previous years, Ramadan has fallen during Finals Week. This guide was developed primarily to assist students in navigating campus and finals during Ramadan.

Since the original creation, this guide has been edited to offer resources, both on and off campus, to support our students of the Muslim faith. It is also intended to provide information for non-Muslims as we support our diverse community during this period of religious observance.

If you would like to offer suggestions or recommend resources that are not listed in this guide, please contact the Campus Library at botcirc@uw.edu or Heather Cyre, Head of Public Services, at hcyre@uw.edu.
