Both the University of Washington Bothell and Cascadia College affirm their commitments to accommodating religious observance as part of the practices of diversity and inclusion. Ramadan is the holy month where Muslims follow the 5 pillars of Islam: Fasting, confession of faith, five daily prayers, Zakah (almsgiving) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca).
In previous years, Ramadan has fallen during Finals Week. This guide was developed primarily to assist students in navigating campus and finals during Ramadan.
Since the original creation, this guide has been edited to offer resources, both on and off campus, to support our students of the Muslim faith. It is also intended to provide information for non-Muslims as we support our diverse community during this period of religious observance.
If you would like to offer suggestions or recommend resources that are not listed in this guide, please contact the Campus Library at firstname.lastname@example.org or Heather Cyre, Head of Public Services, at email@example.com.
