Using effective keywords

  1. The terms you have used and understood in class may not be the terms used in an article. Broaden your search terms based on your understanding of your analytical approach. For example: 
    EXAMPLE GOES HERE
  2. Broaden out from the specific media to the genre or media type:
    Montero OR country music OR hip hop
  3. Extract the concepts you see in an image and brainstorm terms for the concept. For example: 
    heteronormativity OR heterosexuality
    AND advertisement OR media
  4. Try truncation (*) to expand your search: 
    heteronormativ* will return articles with heteronormative, heteronormativity, etc.
