Welcome!

Using the Music Library

The main floor of the music library includes the check-out desk, workstations, scanner and printer, seating, reference materials, and our collection of scores.
The downstairs stacks include most of our print books and journals and our media collections.

Print materials are arranged according to Library of Congress subject headings and call numbers.
Library of Congress call numbers for music are divided as followed:

  • M = musical scores
  • ML = musical literature (biographies, books on the history of music, thematic catalogs, etc.)
  • MT = music instruction or teaching (music theory texts, analyses, method books, etc.
