C-SPAN is a non-profit public television service created in 1979 to provide access to the live proceedings of the House and the Senate, and to other forums where public policy is discussed, debated and decided. Coverage of congressional debates goes back to 1998, however "programs" of older historical events stretch back to the early 1900s.
