The Odegaard Writing & Research Center

Write there with you

We empower writers and foster a supportive learning community on the University of Washington Seattle campus by collaborating with students, staff, and faculty on all kinds of writing and research.

OWRC Hours of Operation

You can find us in 3 locations:

Odegaard Undergraduate Library (by appointment)

Sunday noon-9pm

Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm

Poplar Hall 107 (drop in)

Monday and Tuesday 7pm-10pm

McCarty Hall 334 (drop in)

Monday and Tuesday 7pm-10pm

Reserve an Appointment

Because we recognize that this is an incredibly difficult project to successfully complete on such a tight timeline, we strongly encourage all JSIS Task Force researchers and editors to reserve appointments with experienced OWRC tutors, either as individuals or as small groups. We can help you strategically manage the policy research and writing process.

Appointments can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance.

Editors! We're here for you!

As an organization tasked with collaborating with writers all the time, we are in a uniquely good position to counsel and support Task Force editors.

In addition to the introductory workshop offered to all Task Force participants, we offer supplemental events for editors that involve:

*cultivating strong working relationships with writers on your team

*prioritizing revision efforts in strategic ways

*establishing good shared expectations (e.g., about formatting, style, documentation, etc.) to limit the need for late-stage damage-control

*understanding the new expectations of this writing environment (e.g., how you are potentially on the legal hook for copyright violation)
