A few suggestions on finding books about your research topics:
The search box provided takes your search directly to UW WorldCat, a union catalog of our holdings and those of many other libraries. It includes articles as well as books and journal titles, and other formats (DVDs Online links, etc.). UW holdings will appear first in your list of results.
Using keywords or phrases are good ways to start a search for materials in this Online Catalog. For example, search the known name of an author of interest:
"Elena Poniatowska" results in over 1,300 hits, including works by Poniatowska and works about her, ranging from books, articles and other types of publications. To narrow your search for more focused results, use the options listed in the column on the left of the screen to limit results to a particular format such as Books, Full text On Line, Articles, etc. Use the Author results in the left hand column, to see only materials by Elena Poniatowska (229 hits). The Sort By feature allows one to organize results by the holding library, with UW Libraries holdings appearing first.
Many other limits are also possible---by Language, by Publication Date, by Topic, such as Spanish Literature, Biography, etc.
An Advanced search box is also an option, allowing you to enter some of these limitations directly.
When you find a book that looks promising, look to the right of the title, under "More like this," and note the subject heading links, such as:
Latin American Literature -- 21st Century -- History and Criticism
Spanish Literature -- 21st Century -- History and Criticism
Women and Literature -- Spain -- History -- 20th Century So far, I cannot find a similar subject heading for 21st century Spain's most recent history and criticism.
The link to UW Libraries Primo (beta) will take you to the new online catalog which is still in development. Using it can have certain advantages over the UW Worldcat option. Here are a few books of potential usefulness:
