a. Chronological
Emphasis is on current research. No period is excluded if relevant to curriculum and research needs.
b. Geographical
Primary emphasis is on the Pacific Region and North America, although material on other regions is acquired..
c. Language
English language material and translation from other languages into English are emphasized.
d. Format
The collection includes both digiital and physical formats for monographs, serials, government publications, media, conference proceedings, dissertations and theses, specialized atlases, and atmospheric indexes, abstracts, bibliographies, and data sets.
e. Exclusions
The collection generally excludes maps. Lower division classroom textbooks, pamphlets and juvenile literature are also generally excluded unless special conditions warrant their inclusion.
