Copyright-free books on the web
- HathiTrustUse the "Full View Only" check box in the Full-text Search box to find books that are full text only.
Use the Advanced Catalog Search to limit your search by publication date, language etc.
Many books published prior to 1924, incuding US government publications, are available on the web free of charge. Two collections to search are:
- Google BooksUse the Advanced Book option to search for specific titles, authors and keywords and to limit your search by full text availability (full view only) and publication date.
Current books still in copyright are not available full-text but you can usually use the search feature to pinpoint the pages you might need. Then search the UW Libraries Catalog to find a copy of the printed book.
