The in-Library laptop checkout service was discontinued Friday August 23rd 2019.
In 2019, the Student Technology Fee Committees of both Cascadia and UW Bothell chose not to fund the replacement of the 10 laptops that were circulated to both UWB and Cascadia students for their use anywhere inside the Campus Library.
Now, only current UW Bothell students have access to the Take-Home laptops funded by UWB STF, which are circulated by the Library with annual funding from UWB SAF. Continuing circulation of these laptops is dependent upon annual funding from UWB’s SAF Committee, and replacement funding from UWB's STF Committee as needed.
Cascadia students may have access to laptops circulated by the Cascadia Information Services Helpdesk in CC2-171 (First floor of CC2).
Laptops checked out by the Library are ONLY available to CURRENT UWB STUDENTS! (NOT Staff or Faculty)
Laptops circulated by the Campus Library are ONLY available to current UWB students. Using the laptops requires a UW NetID logon to them while on campus!. The current laptops are 15 inch Dells with touch screens and backlit keyboards that include a 10-key. All of the laptops can access the campus wireless network, and there are also several work tables throughout the Library with available Ethernet cables for wired Internet access. The ongoing circulation of these UWB student Take-Home laptops is contingent upon funding annually approved by the UWB SAF Committee.
We cannot reserve or hold laptops, and they CANNOT be renewed. Students must wait at least 24 hours before checking out another laptop. Students must present their current Husky card for checkouts, and may be asked to show additional photo ID. (No manual checkouts are allowed.)
Available laptops may be checked out for up to 7 days, and must be returned before the Library closes on the 7th day, including any weekend day, to avoid a daily fine. For any Library closure, including holidays or inclement weather, laptops will be due by closing on the next day the Library is open. Fines accrue for laptops at a daily rate, including days the library is closed if it is already past the due date. Failure to return a laptop, will result in being billed the replacement cost of the laptop, a non-refundable fine, and a lost item processing fee. Keep laptops secure and safe! You may be responsible for any and all damages to the laptop, or its loss, up to and including the full replacement cost of the laptop. Please read the Computer Use Policy on the UWB/CC Campus Library website for other restrictions that may apply. DO NOT leave laptops unattended or return laptops in the book drop! You are responsible for their safe return and will still accrue fines! You may also lose your laptop borrowing privileges!
Be sure to save any files you create on your own media, disk, or network drive. All files on the laptop may be deleted upon check-in.
Equipment will not be checked in without all of the accessories it was checked out with. (power adaptor, disk drives, cases, cables, etc.) FAILURE TO RETURN LAPTOP BY THE DUE DATE MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF LAPTOP PRIVILEGES.
We circulate Dell laptops that are funded by UW Bothell Student Technology Fees. All feature wireless internet capability and can be connected to Collaboration Monitors in Group Study Rooms.
UW Bothell and Cascadia College also circulate other equipment to their current students at other service desks.
