About Alan Entwistle

Alan Entwistle (1949-1996) was a scholar, teacher, and linguist from Weymouth, England. He earned his BA in French from the University of Southhampton in 1971, his MA in South Asia Area Studies from the University of London in 1975, and his PhD in Hindi in 1982. In 1986, Entwistle joined the faculty of the University of Washington, focusing his research on linguist trends and religion in India. He made a variety of trips to India throughout his career to create the collection of field recordings that are now stored by the UWEA.
