NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI advocates for access to services, treatment, supports and research and is steadfast in its commitment to raising awareness and building a community of hope for all those in need.
NAMI on Campus at UWT strives to advocate for, educate, and support all students at UWT affected by mental illness either directly or indirectly. [They] will support and be a voice for students living with mental illness, and their aims are to:
Connect students with existing resources while giving them tools to navigate the mental health system
Empower students to seek help
Educate about early warning signs, early detection, and intervention
Advocate for more resources within the campus community for students experiencing mental illness
Work with administration to educate about resources, signs, and any deficits surrounding current supports at UWT
Advocate in an effort to reduce stigma faced by those who are affected by mental illness either indirectly or directly
The goal of Lobby Day is to:
1. Protect and increase access to quality mental health services
2. Decriminalize behavioral health conditions
3. Prioritize prevention and early detection
4. Ensure the financial stability of a quality mental health care system
