We welcome UW Law alumni to continue using our resources and services after graduation. Ways to contact us:
If you need help identifying and finding legal resources, you can speak to a librarian at the Info Desk, located on floor L1 (the first lower level) of William H. Gates Hall. We are open Monday through Friday, closed on the weekends. You can find more information about library hours here.
We have created legal research guides on a number of common topics, such as researching case law, statutes, and secondary sources. Research guides are lists of librarian-recommended resources on your specific topic, and are an excellent starting point for any legal research project. See our research guides here.
Do you want to borrow a book from the Gallagher Law Library but you cannot visit in person? If we own a book, journal, reporter, or court brief that you need, contact us using the Law Books on Demand Form. We will ship the book to you for free! All you pay is the postage to return the material.
Please note that you must have a UW Libraries Borrower's Card to use this service.
When we receive your request, we will verify your alumni status and send the item(s) to you via traceable ground carrier within 2 working days. We will also provide the due date for the material.
Most of our material is eligible, including books, DVDs, bound law review volumes, government publications, and court briefs. Books and other material in the Reference Area, Course Reserve, and Special Collections cannot be loaned.
Our fee-based Copy & Send service delivers copies of library material by mail, email. fax, or Federal Express. For more information, see our Copy & Send page and order form.
