Tracking Citations to Articles

This guide explains how to use different methods to find and track citations to articles and other works.

UW Libraries Articles, Books + More

When you search the UW Libraries for Articles, Books + More (the broadest option in the library catalog), some of the articles listed include links to References (the works that article cited) and Cited by (later articles that cite that article).

The source is CrossRef, a non-profit network.

The links are helpful in discovering related items, but they are not as useful for systematic searching and citation metrics as other tools.

This feature was added to UW Libraries Search in August 2016.
