Rainbow Book Month™ is a nationwide celebration of the authors and writings that reflect the lives and experiences of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, pansexual, genderqueer, queer, intersex, agender, and asexual community.

Rainbow Book Month™ is an initiative of the American Library Association, and is coordinated through its Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services and Rainbow Round Table.

LGBTQIA+ Book Awards and Bibliographies from ALA The American Library Association supports LGBTQIA+ literature through the Stonewall Book Awards (in Children's and Young Adult, Non-Fiction, and Literature categories), as well as two bibliographies including the Rainbow Book List and Over the Rainbow Book List.

These awards and lists serve to recognize the very best in contemporary literature and serve as invaluable tools for building quality LGBTQIA+ collections. You can find award winning titles in the following lists: 

The UW Libraries has e-books and streaming videos on all topics and interests. In this Pride 2020 - Rainbow Books Month online display, you will find selected online biographies and online young adult books. These are available for check out using your UW Net ID

There are many more books and films available through the UW Libraries Search by searching titles, keywords, or topics. Do not forget to limit you search results to online resources since all libraries are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.

QTPOC FIlm Canon

This resource explores how Queer and Trans People or Color have had their lives documented in American film. It provides many examples of films depicting a diverse range of lived experiences. Many of these films are easily accessible through the UW Libraries.
