RIS Exports
RIS is a standardized tag format developed by Research Information Systems to enable citation data exchange. The .ris format is supported by many citation management programs. You can save single or multiple records from UW Libraries Search in RIS tagged format.
To save a single item in RIS tagged format, click on any of the tabs underneat the item in your search results screen. In the Share/Save menu, select Export RIS. Keep the default encoding (UTF-8) and save the file to your computer. You can then import the file into your citation management program.
To save multiple records in RIS tagged format, click the star icon to move them into the e-Shelf, then click on the link to e-Shelf in the upper right part of the screen. Select the records you'd like to export, then select "Push ot Export RIS" [illustrated below] and save the resulting file to your computer. You may then import the saved .ris file into a citation managment program.
You can get a citation for an individual item in the new UW Libraries Search in MLA, APA, or Chicago/Turabian formats.
