Using Preferences
My NCBI Preferences allow you to activate search term highlighting, save shared settings, change the display of the links menu, and turn off the AutoSuggest feature, display preferences when in PubMed and preferences for other Entrez databases.
- Sign in to My NCBI and click NCBI Site Preferences near the top right of the page.
- Select the Common Preference you would like to activate and click on the link.
- 'Highlighting' allows you to choose a color to have your search terms highlighted.
MyNCBI Search Filters
Tailor Your PubMed Search Experience with MyNCBI (8 min. video)
Filters group search results by areas of interest, such as Review. Filtered results with their respective counts for the current search display as links on the right side of the web page. Click on the link to display the citations grouped by that filter.

Filter Preferences: Show UW Full Text Links
This filter adds the purple and gold UW full text journal links to PubMed in your MyNCBI view. Configuring MyNCBI to show UW holdings journal article icons requires following these steps only one time. The UW preferences should then remain and appear each time you log in.

PubMed Search Filter Preferences: Show Clinical Queries, Publication Types, Subsets, etc.
PubMed Search Filter Preferences allow you have links to PubMed searches limited by commonly used search filters. Popular search filters include Language, Clinical Queries Categories, Publication Types, Ages, etc. PubMed UW displays links for searches filtered to four Clinical Queries categories (Diagnosis/Narrow, Etiology/Narrow, Prognosis/Narrow, and Therapy/Narrow, Review publication type, and Subsets (Nursing Journals, Systematic Reviews). To show the same filters on your personal MyNCBI page follow the directions below.
Note: those citations that are not indexed will not be included in these results.
