Popular and Scholarly Sources

Scholarly sources tend to provide information for academics or the experts in the fields, so they often are subject specific and contain technical language and scientific terminology. Most of the scholarly publications are peer-reviewed and include full citations and references.

Popular sources are less technical and are intended to inform or entertain the general public. They rarely contain full citations or references, and normally written by journalists or professional writers. Examples of popular sources include popular magazines and newspapers.
