There are several free tools available for students to use to build surveys. Before you choose one, think about what you want your survey to look like, how many questions you intend to ask, will they be multiple choice, multi-select, or open ended; many responses you expect to collect, and whether you will want to export data. These include:
REDCap - is a secure web application for building and managing online surveys and databases. It is a HIPAA compliant tool available through ITHS. You will need to register for a free account in order to get started. There are classes on RedCap every Tuesday at 11:00 am in the Health Sciences Library.
Survey Monkey - the free option is very straight-forward, customizing does cost money.
GoogleForms - free online survey tool for personal use
There are dozens of free survey tools, with some limiting you to 10 questions, some for mobile devices, some with no data export features. A quick survey of the free survey tools is available here.
