SPHSC 304: Speech & Language Acquisition: Databases for Finding Articles

The UW Libraries subscribes to many databases because they cover different sets of journals and publications.  The publishers decide which databases may include the full text of their articles.  If a database does not provide the full text of the article that you need, select a button:

These buttons will search to see if the Libraries has the article online and, if we don't, see if the journal is available in print.

Google Scholar is another tool to use for finding articles, keeping in mind that it may not include many of the sources covered in library databases. It is also lacks many of the search functions that help you find exactly what you need.

• Google Scholar

  Be sure to link Google Scholar to the UW Libraries:
  1. Click on the 3 lines in the upper left to get to the Google Scholar menu
  2. Go to Settings, then "Library Links"
  3. Type Washington in the Library Links search box and click 'Find Library' button.
  4. Select UW from the list and save preferences.
