All American libraries use official terminology created by the Library of Congress (LC) to categorize books by subject. For missionary accounts including memoirs, magazines, and other material, use the following terms: missions, missionaries, "missionary work". UW Libraries Search, HathiTrust, and the Internet Archive all use these Library of Congress terms. Combine these terms with the city/country/region to find accounts -- use a subject search option if available to ensure greater relevancy. Follow the search models included on the Travel Accounts section of this guide replacing "description and travel" with missions. For example: congo missions or kenya missionaries.

Yale's Day Missions Collection also includes a small number of magazines published by African missions.
