Tips for using UW Libraries Search to find Books on Sociology

Use UW Libraries Search to find out what books and other whole items (journal and newspaper subscriptions, DVDs, documents, etc.) a library or library system owns. Books not available at the UW Libraries may still be available from a Summit Library, or through Interlibrary Loan.

  • Try a keyword search and add one of these words: sociology, social, or socialization
  • Try a keyword search and add one of these phrases: "social aspects," "sociological aspects," or "sociology of"
  • Try some of the subject headings suggested in an item's "Details"
  • Do a general keyword search and then use the Topic limit (one of the links along the left of your search results) to narrow your search to Sociology books.
  • Do a general keyword search and then use the Library limit (one of the links along the left of your search results) to narrow your search to a specific UW Library
