Collection Guidelines: Comparative Literature and Cinema & Media Studies: Scope

These are the guidelines by which materials are purchased for the Comparative Literature and Cinema & Media Studies collections of the UW Libraries (Seattle Campus).

Scope

a. Chronological

No period is excluded. Emphasis is on 19th, 20th and 21st century materials.

b. Geographical

No geographic area is excluded.

c. Language

Languages offered in the academic curricula are included in collection parameters.

d. Format

Online resources such as e-books, streaming media products, monographs, serials, films on DVD, screenplays, and selected reference works are collected.

e. Exclusions

Most textbooks and filmmaking software programs are excluded.
