Active areas of research in the Department of Physics include condensed matter physics, particle physics, nuclear physics, astrophysics, atomic physics, quantum information, precision measurement, nanoscale physics, neutrino physics, energy science, collider physics, biological physics, and physics education. In addition, the physics department also hosts four special divisions: the Institute for Nuclear Theory (INT), the Center for Experimental Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics (CENPA), the Dark Universe Science Center (DUSC), and the Clean Energy Institute (CEI).
