About Covidence

What is Covidence?

Covidence stands for "Collaboration + Evidence"; it is an online platform supporting evidence synthesis projects like systematic and scoping reviews. 

What can Covidence do?

Covidence supports teams with collaboration and the following parts of evidence synthesis. Follow the links to learn more about how to accomplish each step in Covidence:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Covidence

License 

The UW's license to Covidence includes: 

  • Unlimited Access (number of Users), 
  • Unlimited Number of Reviews (Projects), 
  • Unlimited number of Collaborators, and 
  • Unlimited Priority Support services for all users via support@covidence.org. 

Get Started with Covidence

Join UW's Covidence License

New Users

To request access to join UW's institutional license to Covidence, you must use your current UW email address (@uw.edu).

  1. Go to UW's Covidence access link (sign in with UW NetID required).
  2. Enter your information (using your @uw.edu email address) and click “Request Invitation” link.
  3. Accept the invitation in your email – check your spam folder if the invitation doesn’t arrive in a few minutes. Please also keep in mind that the link is one-time use and will expire in ~30 days.
  4. Sign up for a Covidence account, which will automatically link you to the UW.
  5. When you click “Create new review” you will have the option to use your personal account license or select the UW Health Sciences Library account. Selecting the UW Health Sciences Library account will connect you to our institutional license.

If you have already joined the UW Health Sciences Library Covidence account, then you can go to Covidence and log in with your email and password and proceed to use Covidence.

Existing Users

  1. In Covidence, add your UW email address to your existing account (go to 'Profile' to do this).
  2. Make your UW email your primary email address in Covidence.
  3. Go to UW's Covidence access link (sign in with UW NetID required).
  4. Enter your information (using your @uw.edu email address) and click “Request Invitation” link.
  5. Accept the invitation in your email – check your spam folder if the invitation doesn’t arrive in a few minutes. Please also keep in mind that the link is one-time use and will expire in ~30 days.
  6. Log in to your existing Covidence account, which will automatically link you to the UW. When you click “Create new review” you will have the option to use your personal account license or select the UW Health Sciences Library account. Selecting the UW Health Sciences Library account will connect you to our institutional license.

If you have already joined the UW Health Sciences Library Covidence account, then you can go to Covidence and log in with your email and password and proceed to use Covidence.

Move an Existing Review to the UW's License

Existing reviews, including in-progress projects, will be unchanged by joining UW's institutional license.

Email support@covidence.org to request your review be moved into the UW repository; include your UW email address and the name of the review. You may expect a response within approximately three hours.

Change Institutions

A review project using the UW's license may remain with the UW even after the researchers leave the institution. If you would like to move your review to your new institution or to an individual Covidence account, email support@covidence.org to request the change; be sure to include your UW email and the name of the review. This process can take approximately two weeks.

Create a Review with UW's License

After clicking the link “Create new review” you will have the option to use your personal account license or select the UW Health Sciences Library account.
