Cartographic materials support the research and instructional missions among a broad cross-section of the university community. The collection is primarily built with the needs of the University of Washington students, faculty, and staff in mind who may utilize both print and digital cartographic information.
Some UW departments that utilize the cartographic collection include:
Geography: the study of space and its relation to human and nonhuman existence.
GIS certificate: the study of geographic information systems (GIS) which combines classic cartography with modern technology to generate spatial and geographic data.
Urban Design and Planning: the study of land development and built environments.
Environmental and Forest Sciences: the studies of environmental and natural resources and their applicable uses.
