On Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022, the UW Libraries gathered for Privacy Week to discuss Academic Surveillance & the Big Data Economy. The Keynote Address was given by Sarah Lamdan, Professor of Law at City University of New York, on the topic of "Your Journals Are Spying On You: What Platform Surveillance Means for Us." The Keynote was followed by a panel discussion with Lukas Illa, UW Student Activist, Peyton Jacobsen, Seattle University Graduate Law Student, and Carla Wale, Interim Associate Dean of Gallagher Law Library & Information Systems. 

After the panel discussion, Chris Geeng, PhD Candidate at the UW Security and Privacy Lab, presented on "'Like Lesbians Walking the Perimeter': Experiences of U.S. LGBTQ+ Folks With Online Security, Safety, and Privacy Advice."
