The resources listed in this box cover basic concepts in data visualization and are not tool-specific.
Note: Tool-specific tutorials and guides are available on the Data Visualization Tools page.
UW students, researchers, and faculty are welcome to schedule a consultation to discuss any data analysis and visualization-related questions. For data visualization-related workshops, please check out the Open Scholarship Commons calendar.
Additionally, the Center for Social Science Computation and Research (CSSCR) also offers workshops that may include visualization. Also, the Center for Statistics and the Social Sciences (CSSS) offers advice on data visualization and presentation on social science data as part of CSSS statistical consulting as well as a graduate course (CSSS 569) on visualizing data and statistical models of data using R.
These challenges can help you get started with low stakes data visualization with clean data and a supportive community of practice.
