Ways I Can Help You

For students, I can:

  • Help you find information you need for assignments, literature reviews, lab work, & other purposes
  • Work with you one-on-one to help you develop your research skills and use library resources effectively
  • Help you figure out formatting for citations

For faculty, I can:

  • Introduce your students to research tools and strategies via a workshop or web tutorial
  • Create a webpage tailored to your class or a particular assignment
  • Discuss ways to best incorporate research skills and library materials into your class assignments
  • Assist you in identifying open educational resources to be used in your courses
  • Acquire, where possible, texts to be used in your courses, and designate them as "Course Reserves"
  • Act as a liaison communicating the department's concerns and needs to library administration

For researchers, I can:

  • Purchase books and other material needed for your research
  • Track down tricky citations
  • Help you with publishing questions on topics like reputable & predatory journals, copyright, preprints, and open access

Equity Statement

Both STEM & Academia are fields which have historically privileged knowledge based in masculine European traditions, which is a very narrow paradigm, and libraries are as likely to gatekeep knowledge as to preserve and share it. I see my job as a STEM-focused librarian as one in which I am obligated to expand access to existing knowledge, helping it reach communities who previously were not allowed to participate in the conversations of academia. Further, I hope to promote the knowledge held and shared by those who have been historically ignored, so that its value can be better recognized. I am always happy for conversation and suggestions on how better to engage in these tasks!
