I am the librarian for the UW Department of Communication and the Communication Studies, Microforms, & News Librarian for University Libraries Seattle campus.  I am involved in a wide range of activities including helping students and faculty with their research, teaching, building the Libraries communication-related collections, and more.  I love connecting you with the information that you need.  I enjoy mass media (television, film, music, books, magazines, and newspapers) and technologies that make consuming mass media easy and fun (Yeah for TiVo, theatres, Internet, wireless, Kindle, radio, paper). My current faves include The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Black-ish, Derry Girls, The Crown, People Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Seattle Times, Washington Post, New York Times (especially The Daily podcast), NPR, Pinterest....      

For students, I can:

• Recommend the best databases to search for your research topic
• Track down tricky citations
• Help you to cite your sources
• Answer your questions via email, facebook, IM, phone or in-person
• Meet with you individually to hash out your research topic or discuss research strategies
• Tell you about library services

For faculty, I can:

• Purchase books and other materials needed for your research and teaching
• Give you an orientation to UW Libraries services and resources
• Track down tricky citations
• Do a quick literature review
• Introduce your students to research tools and strategies via a workshop
• Create a webpage tailored to your class assignment (COM 442 example)
• Discuss ways to best incorporate research skills and library materials into your class assignments
• Meet with your students individually
• Partner with you to plan and host academic events
• Tell you about library collections and services
• Act as a liaison communicating the department's concerns and needs to library administration
