Collection Guidelines: German Studies: UW Libraries Locations

As always, use UW Libraries Search to find the location of materials you need. Below are some general guidelines on where most Germanic materials can be found, but valuable resources could be at any of the UW campuses (Seattle, Bothell, Tacoma), not to mention other libraries in Washington and Oregon in the Summit consortium.

• Suzzallo and Allen Libraries is the major location for the Germanic language and literature collection in print.
• Electronic resources may be found in the UW Libraries Search and on the Germanics Research Guide.
• Microform collections are in the Microforms-Newspapers Section.
• There are some duplicate and related titles in the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, Drama Library, Bothell and Tacoma libraries.
• The Odegaard Undergraduate Library also has English translations of German works that could be of interest to undergraduates. The International Good Reads section has some materials in German, including graphic novels.
• Specialized encyclopedias, dictionaries, concordances, and bibliographies may be located in the Reference area on the First Floor in Suzzallo.
• Audio-visual materials (for example, DVDs of German-language films) are mainly in Suzzallo and Allen Libraries.
