To find eBooks:

  • Use the Advanced Search option
    • Change "Show Only" to "UW Libraries" 
    • On the results page, use the toolbar and choose "Available Online." This will find both regular eBooks as well as those available through the HathiTrust Emergency Library.

  • Use Special Headings that Designate Primary Sources - Use these special headings in conjunction with your topic:
    • personal narratives
    • interviews
    • diaries
    • correspondence
    • sources
       
  • Search by publication date
  • Search for books written by key people & organizations

HathiTrust

HathiTrust is a digitized library of millions of books as well as journals & government reports. 

  • Material published prior to 1924, copyright free material, and many government documents can be freely viewed and downloaded.
  • Includes some material in Arabic & other vernacular languages.
  • Books that the UW Libraries owns in print are also accessible online at this time.
    • Login with your UW netid and password using the yellow login button
    • Look for the "Temporary Access" link and check out the book to read online
    • No printing or downloading available
  • HathiTrust books that are temporarily available will show up in UW Libraries Search.

This search finds 10 items including temporary access to a 1931 Yiddish book, Ṿos arbeṭerins dertseylen: a Erets-Yisroel bukh, a 1934 freely available book, The daughter of Abd Salam: the story of a peasant woman of Palestine, and a freely available book in Dutch, De sociale positie van de vrouw bij Israel in den voor- en na-exilischen tijd.
