Textual Studies and Digital Humanities: Books

This guide supports UW's undergraduate Minor in Textual Studies and Digital Humanities and the Graduate Certificate in Textual and Digital Studies.

Finding Books with UW Libraries Search

UW Libraries Search

Why should I use UW Libraries Search?

Because it connects you to millions of print books, eBooks, and special collections in the UW system.

Tip: If you use Advanced Search, you can select the “Material Type” option to limit to print books or eBooks. The “Language” limiter is great if you want to focus on a particular language – or “Date” for a time range. “Show Only” is useful for limiting to UW Special Collections.

Finding Books with World Cat / FirstSearch

WorldCat / FirstSearch

Why should I use WorldCat / FirstSearch?

Because they connect you to millions and millions of national and international print books that are not directly in the UW system. You can request books, free of charge, through WorldCat or FirstSearch, or you can request materials through Inter Library Loan

Tip: Everyone in TXTDS should request at least five books through Inter Library Loan.

Finding Books with EBook Collections

EBook Collections

Why should I use EBook Collections?

Because they connect you to scores of texts, some of which are in Libraries search and some of which are not.

Tip: Take fifteen minutes to explore HathiTrust and find something rare, unusual, and exciting.
