Looking for research help?
If you're having trouble with your research, you can stop by the Research Help Desk located on the first floor of Suzzallo/Allen between the Circulation Desk and the Student Print Station. Librarians there are always happy to help with research questions. If you need more detailed help, you can also make an appointment with your Subject Librarian, Faye Christenberry (below).

You can also chat with a librarian online 24/7 via our chat service (below).

Search Tips

  •  By Topic - Type in the keywords that broadly describe your topic.  For example: Puritanism AND Nathaniel Hawthorne . On the results screen use the "Resource Type" options on the left toolbar to limit your results in a variety of ways. You can limit by library location, resource type (article, print book, ebook etc.), collection, topic and others.
  • By Title - search for a specific book by title. Type in the first few words of the book title in quotations.  For example: "comparative literature in an age of globalization".  If you don't see the book on your list of results, try doing an Advanced Search and adding in the author.
  • By Author - search for books written by a specific author. Type in the last name followed by the first name of the author in quotations.  For example: "william blake".

Note down the library name and call number -- you need this information to locate the book on the library shelves.
