E-Books at UW: ProQuest Ebook Central
Information on searching, accessing, and using e-books at the UW Libraries
Desktop
1. Following a material search, select the link located under “View Online,” in the item display
2. Once on the ProQuest Ebook Central website, select “Download Book”
- For individual chapters, select “Download PDF” from the Table of Contents
- Adobe Digital Editions is not required for individual chapter downloads
3. Select the device you are using, then click continue
4. A prompt for Adobe Digital Editions will popup
- If you have not installed the software, select “Get Adobe Digital Editions”
- Once it has downloaded, click “Done with this step”
5. Choose either the EPUB or PDF format, then download
Mobile Devices
- Follow the same steps for downloading on a mobile device
- Be sure to have a third party app downloaded to access the e-book, some examples can be found in the Downloading E-Books Introduction
- If you download a title on one device it cannot be downloaded on another
- For example, a title can be downloaded onto your computer but cannot be downloaded onto your smartphone too
