E-Books at UW: ProQuest Ebook Central

Information on searching, accessing, and using e-books at the UW Libraries

Desktop

1. Following a material search, select the link located under “View Online,” in the item display

“View Online” section of the material record. Indicates Full text availability for Ebook Central (unlimited user access)

 

2. Once on the ProQuest Ebook Central website, select “Download Book”

  • For individual chapters, select “Download PDF” from the Table of Contents
  • Adobe Digital Editions is not required for individual chapter downloads

3. Select the device you are using, then click continue

4. A prompt for Adobe Digital Editions will popup

  • If you have not installed the software, select “Get Adobe Digital Editions”
  • Once it has downloaded, click “Done with this step”

5. Choose either the EPUB or PDF format, then download

Mobile Devices

  • Follow the same steps for downloading on a mobile device
  • Be sure to have a third party app downloaded to access the e-book, some examples can be found in the Downloading E-Books Introduction
  • If you download a title on one device it cannot be downloaded on another
    • For example, a title can be downloaded onto your computer but cannot be downloaded onto your smartphone too
