Tips for Searching for Books

  • Try a keyword search and add these phrases: "preservation" or "conservation."
  • Try a variety of words to describe the material or object that you want preservation information about and then look at the subject headings for the catalog record that seems most useful.  For example, "video" might lead to the more narrow subject heading of "video tapes" or the more general subject headings for "audio-visual materials," "magnetic tape," or "moving image."  You will probably find useful information under all of those subject headings.
  • Refine your results using the links along the left of your search results to narrow the scope of your search to:
    • books under Resource Type or Format
    • and related Topics
