The Equity, Diversity, and Social Justice (EDSJ) Team started the Community Reads program in Spring of 2016. This quarterly reading and discussion series was created with the following goals:
Build community through a common intellectual experience.
Promote engagement with thoughtful, noteworthy works of literature or scholarship related to issues of equity and social justice across the UWB/CC campus and community.
Offer instructors an opportunity to invigorate curriculum with vital issues and community conversation.
EDSJ hosted four Community Reads events before EDSJ was disbanded in 2017, but Community Reads was started again as a separate initiative in the Winter of 2018. Detailed information about the program, past and present, can not be found on the Community Reads Library Guide.
